Oral Cancer and how it happens

Cancer is an uncontrollable growth of cells that attack and damage the tissues surrounding it. Oral cancer comes as a sore in the mouth or a growth and never goes. This is inclusive of cancer of the lips, cheeks, tongue, floor of the mouth and a hard palate. This kind of cancer includes at least 5% of the cancer in the United States of America.

Oral cancer manifests in the form of swellings in the mouth and as bumps or lumps and crusts or rough spots. Some eroded areas on the lips, gums and other areas inside the mouth also have cancer of the mouth. There are red and white patches in the mouth and bleeding without reason.

Sign of Oral Cancer There is a kind of numbness and tenderness in the facial area and in the neck, mouth and ear. There are sores on the neck, mouth and face and these do not heal for a long time. The person has difficulty chewing and swallowing and is unable usually to move the jaw or the tongue. There is a lot of sore throat and a hoarseness that is unexplainable. The ear pains and the teeth and the dentures change their structures. The victim experiences a lump in the neck with a lot of loss of weigh.

This cancer is seen mostly in men above the age of 70 and in fact is the sixth most common cancer case among men. Anyone smoking cigarette and any person consuming alcohol is a victim of such cancers usually. It is seen more in drinkers than in those who do not drink. The combined consumption of alcohol and tobacco is a total deterrent.

Besides, if the person has a family history of cancer, and is exposed to cancer for a long time and has poor dietary habits, then he becomes a victim of such cancer easily.

Thus, oral cancer is a common occurrence and has to be taken care of.
